I will develop myself in a positive manner and avoid anything that can reduce my mental growth or physical health.
I will develop self discipline in order to bring out the best in my self and others. I will use common sense before self defense and never be abusive or offensive.
This is a Black Belt school. We are dedicated, we are motivate, we are on a quest to be our best!
Dojo Rules
- Obey all dojo rules. These rules are critical to your mental and physical training. Eligibility for
promotion will be based on compliance to these standards. - Be punctual about your scheduled practices and meetings. The time set for an event to begin is
the time you should be in your gi (uniform), warmed up, and ready to start. - Wear your karate gi properly, it should always be neat and clean. Your gi should be in good care.
NEVER wash your belt. (Dojo Shirts are allowed between Memorial Day and Labor Day) - Keep your body clean. Toenails and fingernails should never be past the edge of your fingers or
toes. - Do not wear jewellery of any kind. Wedding rings and newly pierced earrings can be taped to the
skin. **Rules 4 and 5 are for your safety as well as your karate partner** - Do not chew gum or have food in your mouth while on the dojo floor.
- OBSERVE ALL TRADITION IN THE DOJO:
A. Bowing is to be done upon entering and leaving the dojo, is to be done at the beginning and
end of class to the instructor, and also be done between karateka prior to and upon
completion of mutual exercise.
B. Kyu ranks will form one line on the left of the dojo with senior kyu on the right. Black belts will
always have a line of their own as well as Sandan and every rank above.
C. There is always silence in the dojo when a class is in Makuso.
D. Always refer to senior ranks by their title: i.e. Senpai, Sensei, etc.. - Exercise sincerely entering in the spirit of Karate by exercising in accordance with Karate
principles and not relying solely on strength. - Lower ranks must always seek help from higher ranks. Higher ranks must not refuse this help
unless there are extenuating circumstances. Always be courteous in demeanour and helpful to all
ranks. Without mutual respect Karate cannot be passed on - Remain quiet and attentive in the dojo even when you are not in class. Always assume the
traditional kneeling position when sitting. Do not sit or lie idly on the floor. Never interfere with
others that are exercising. Your behaviour should never be disruptive to the class. - Always be earnest and serious, especially in a contest. The spirit of fair play to fight fair and to
be obedient to the referee’s judgement and to the attach more importance of the match and
what you learned rather than the results. - Contribute to keeping the dojo in repair and in clean condition. The dojo floor must be cleaned
after each class. - Report any accidents and or incidents to the Senior Staff on duty the day of the incident.
- All required forms are to be handed in completed and fully filled out one week prior to all
testing/events or freeze agreements.

Great question. We recommend every new student goes through our introductory 3 lesson trial program. This allows the student to try out Karate before making a long term commitment in their training. We feel this is the best option because it takes approximately 4 years to obtain black belt.
No, you will get into shape as you train. We have a series of exercises that you will learn as you progress through the ranking system which will enable you to perform the self defense techniques and other curriculum.
No, you are not too old to begin martial arts training. Our Martial Arts System typically has students start from adolescence through their 60’s and older. Karate is a practical and effective martial art that we modify for each persons ability.
Tae Kwon Do is a Korean Martial Art that focuses primarily on kicking techniques. Some Tae Kwon Do schools also teach Olympic style fighting. Karate is a practical self defense system which trains the student for modern day self defense encounters. Karate students are taught to use their hands and feet with multiple strikes to multiple targets on each attacker, in a multiple attack situation.
We typically test our students every 3 months or based on their skill level. Testing is an additional fee. Interium testing is performed every month and is free of charge. This allows the intructors to continuely assess and monitor the students growth and development.
The two 1 hour classes are week are recommended, as is practicing at home. As you progress through the ranks if you want more 1:1 attention we offer 30 minute private lessons (Additional fee) which can further help hone your skills.
In Karate, it takes approximately 4 years to reach student black belt.
Fully vaccinated students are not required to wear a mask. It is up the the student should they want to wear a mask.
Unvaccinated students are required to wear a mask while training.
Should any student test positive they are required to have two negative COVID test before returning. A mask must be worn during class until they are symptom free.
